Prayer times

A life arranged around salah

Work between the prayers — not prayer squeezed between work. The day is divided by the five prayers, and the time after each is for work done for Allah's pleasure. Then the work, too, becomes worship.

The idea

  1. 1

    Salah at the centre

The schedule is built around the prayers — salah is not fitted into the gaps of work.

  2. 2

    Work between two prayers

The time after each prayer is one block of work. The adhan means that block is over.

  3. 3

    With intention, work is worship

Office, business, study, home — done for Allah's pleasure, all of it is part of worship.

  4. 4

    Stop at the adhan

However urgent the work, put the pen down when the adhan is called — that is the heart of the habit.

Qur'an

And when you have completed the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, or [lying] on your sides. But when you become secure, re-establish [regular] prayer. Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times
