Al-Hijr · 15:72

In context

1. وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُخۡزُونِ

   15:69And fear Allah and do not disgrace me

2. قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ نَنۡهَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

   15:70They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people

3. قَالَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِيٓ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَٰعِلِينَ

   15:71[Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]

4. لَعَمۡرُكَ إِنَّهُمۡ لَفِي سَكۡرَتِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ

   15:72By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly

5. فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّيۡحَةُ مُشۡرِقِينَ

   15:73So the shriek seized them at sunrise

6. فَجَعَلۡنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ حِجَارَةٗ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ

   15:74And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay

7. إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّلۡمُتَوَسِّمِينَ

   15:75Indeed in that are signs for those who discern
