Al-Mu'minun · 23:40

In context

1. إِنۡ هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحۡيَا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَبۡعُوثِينَ

   23:37Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected

2. إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبٗا وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَهُۥ بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ

   23:38He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him

3. قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ

   23:39He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me

4. قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلٖ لَّيُصۡبِحُنَّ نَٰدِمِينَ

   23:40[Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful

5. فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّيۡحَةُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ غُثَآءٗۚ فَبُعۡدٗا لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

   23:41So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people

6. ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قُرُونًا ءَاخَرِينَ

   23:42Then We produced after them other generations

7. مَا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ

   23:43No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]
