Al-Mu'minun · 23:65

In context

1. وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفۡسًا إِلَّا وُسۡعَهَاۚ وَلَدَيۡنَا كِتَٰبٞ يَنطِقُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ

   23:62And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged

2. بَلۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ فِي غَمۡرَةٖ مِّنۡ هَٰذَا وَلَهُمۡ أَعۡمَٰلٞ مِّن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ هُمۡ لَهَا عَٰمِلُونَ

   23:63But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing

3. حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذۡنَا مُتۡرَفِيهِم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمۡ يَجۡـَٔرُونَ

   23:64Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allah] for help

4. لَا تَجۡـَٔرُواْ ٱلۡيَوۡمَۖ إِنَّكُم مِّنَّا لَا تُنصَرُونَ

   23:65Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped

5. قَدۡ كَانَتۡ ءَايَٰتِي تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَكُنتُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَعۡقَٰبِكُمۡ تَنكِصُونَ

   23:66My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels

6. مُسۡتَكۡبِرِينَ بِهِۦ سَٰمِرٗا تَهۡجُرُونَ

   23:67In arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil

7. أَفَلَمۡ يَدَّبَّرُواْ ٱلۡقَوۡلَ أَمۡ جَآءَهُم مَّا لَمۡ يَأۡتِ ءَابَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

   23:68Then have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers
