Al-Mu'minun · 23:66

In context

1. بَلۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ فِي غَمۡرَةٖ مِّنۡ هَٰذَا وَلَهُمۡ أَعۡمَٰلٞ مِّن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ هُمۡ لَهَا عَٰمِلُونَ

   23:63But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing

2. حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذۡنَا مُتۡرَفِيهِم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمۡ يَجۡـَٔرُونَ

   23:64Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allah] for help

3. لَا تَجۡـَٔرُواْ ٱلۡيَوۡمَۖ إِنَّكُم مِّنَّا لَا تُنصَرُونَ

   23:65Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped

4. قَدۡ كَانَتۡ ءَايَٰتِي تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَكُنتُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَعۡقَٰبِكُمۡ تَنكِصُونَ

   23:66My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels

5. مُسۡتَكۡبِرِينَ بِهِۦ سَٰمِرٗا تَهۡجُرُونَ

   23:67In arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil

6. أَفَلَمۡ يَدَّبَّرُواْ ٱلۡقَوۡلَ أَمۡ جَآءَهُم مَّا لَمۡ يَأۡتِ ءَابَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

   23:68Then have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers

7. أَمۡ لَمۡ يَعۡرِفُواْ رَسُولَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ

   23:69Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging
