Ash-Shu'ara · 26:138

In context

1. إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ يَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ

   26:135Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day

2. قَالُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡنَآ أَوَعَظۡتَ أَمۡ لَمۡ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡوَٰعِظِينَ

   26:136They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors

3. إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

   26:137This is not but the custom of the former peoples

4. وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ

   26:138And we are not to be punished

5. فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ

   26:139And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

6. وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

   26:140And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

7. كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ

   26:141Thamud denied the messengers
