In context

1. كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٞ فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

   54:18Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning

2. إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمۡ رِيحٗا صَرۡصَرٗا فِي يَوۡمِ نَحۡسٖ مُّسۡتَمِرّٖ

   54:19Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune

3. تَنزِعُ ٱلنَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمۡ أَعۡجَازُ نَخۡلٖ مُّنقَعِرٖ

   54:20Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted

4. فَكَيۡفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

   54:21And how [severe] were My punishment and warning

5. وَلَقَدۡ يَسَّرۡنَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لِلذِّكۡرِ فَهَلۡ مِن مُّدَّكِرٖ

   54:22And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember

6. كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ

   54:23Thamud denied the warning

7. فَقَالُوٓاْ أَبَشَرٗا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدٗا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذٗا لَّفِي ضَلَٰلٖ وَسُعُرٍ

   54:24And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness
