In context

1. كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ بِٱلنُّذُرِ

   54:23Thamud denied the warning

2. فَقَالُوٓاْ أَبَشَرٗا مِّنَّا وَٰحِدٗا نَّتَّبِعُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذٗا لَّفِي ضَلَٰلٖ وَسُعُرٍ

   54:24And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness

3. أَءُلۡقِيَ ٱلذِّكۡرُ عَلَيۡهِ مِنۢ بَيۡنِنَا بَلۡ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٞ

   54:25Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar

4. سَيَعۡلَمُونَ غَدٗا مَّنِ ٱلۡكَذَّابُ ٱلۡأَشِرُ

   54:26They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar

5. إِنَّا مُرۡسِلُواْ ٱلنَّاقَةِ فِتۡنَةٗ لَّهُمۡ فَٱرۡتَقِبۡهُمۡ وَٱصۡطَبِرۡ

   54:27Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient

6. وَنَبِّئۡهُمۡ أَنَّ ٱلۡمَآءَ قِسۡمَةُۢ بَيۡنَهُمۡۖ كُلُّ شِرۡبٖ مُّحۡتَضَرٞ

   54:28And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]

7. فَنَادَوۡاْ صَاحِبَهُمۡ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ

   54:29But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]
