Al-Qalam · 68:18

In context

1. إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

   68:15When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples

2. سَنَسِمُهُۥ عَلَى ٱلۡخُرۡطُومِ

   68:16We will brand him upon the snout

3. إِنَّا بَلَوۡنَٰهُمۡ كَمَا بَلَوۡنَآ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ إِذۡ أَقۡسَمُواْ لَيَصۡرِمُنَّهَا مُصۡبِحِينَ

   68:17Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the companions of the garden, when they swore to cut its fruit in the [early] morning

4. وَلَا يَسۡتَثۡنُونَ

   68:18Without making exception

5. فَطَافَ عَلَيۡهَا طَآئِفٞ مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَهُمۡ نَآئِمُونَ

   68:19So there came upon the garden an affliction from your Lord while they were asleep

6. فَأَصۡبَحَتۡ كَٱلصَّرِيمِ

   68:20And it became as though reaped

7. فَتَنَادَوۡاْ مُصۡبِحِينَ

   68:21And they called one another at morning
