Al-Fajr · 89:12

In context

1. وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُواْ ٱلصَّخۡرَ بِٱلۡوَادِ

   89:9And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley

2. وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ ذِي ٱلۡأَوۡتَادِ

   89:10And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes

3. ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ

   89:11[All of] whom oppressed within the lands

4. فَأَكۡثَرُواْ فِيهَا ٱلۡفَسَادَ

   89:12And increased therein the corruption

5. فَصَبَّ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّكَ سَوۡطَ عَذَابٍ

   89:13So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment

6. إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلۡمِرۡصَادِ

   89:14Indeed, your Lord is in observation

7. فَأَمَّا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكۡرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَكۡرَمَنِ

   89:15And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me
