Al-Fajr · 89:13

In context

1. وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ ذِي ٱلۡأَوۡتَادِ

   89:10And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes

2. ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ

   89:11[All of] whom oppressed within the lands

3. فَأَكۡثَرُواْ فِيهَا ٱلۡفَسَادَ

   89:12And increased therein the corruption

4. فَصَبَّ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّكَ سَوۡطَ عَذَابٍ

   89:13So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment

5. إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلۡمِرۡصَادِ

   89:14Indeed, your Lord is in observation

6. فَأَمَّا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكۡرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَكۡرَمَنِ

   89:15And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me

7. وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَهَٰنَنِ

   89:16But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me
