Al-Fajr · 89:14

In context

1. ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ

   89:11[All of] whom oppressed within the lands

2. فَأَكۡثَرُواْ فِيهَا ٱلۡفَسَادَ

   89:12And increased therein the corruption

3. فَصَبَّ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّكَ سَوۡطَ عَذَابٍ

   89:13So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment

4. إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلۡمِرۡصَادِ

   89:14Indeed, your Lord is in observation

5. فَأَمَّا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكۡرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَكۡرَمَنِ

   89:15And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me

6. وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَهَٰنَنِ

   89:16But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me

7. كَلَّاۖ بَل لَّا تُكۡرِمُونَ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ

   89:17No! But you do not honor the orphan
