Al-Fajr · 89:22

In context

1. وَتَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكۡلٗا لَّمّٗا

   89:19And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether

2. وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡمَالَ حُبّٗا جَمّٗا

   89:20And you love wealth with immense love

3. كَلَّآۖ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ دَكّٗا دَكّٗا

   89:21No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed

4. وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلۡمَلَكُ صَفّٗا صَفّٗا

   89:22And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank

5. وَجِاْيٓءَ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بِجَهَنَّمَۚ يَوۡمَئِذٖ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ

   89:23And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance

6. يَقُولُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي قَدَّمۡتُ لِحَيَاتِي

   89:24He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life

7. فَيَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٞ

   89:25So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment
